Forest Edge EVOO New Packaging initiative
Forest Edge Olive Grove Farm are doing even more to help our planet
We have purchased a fantastic shredding machine, and will now be recycling unwanted paperwork for cushioned packaging.
What will we be shredding
Invoices and statements, all unnecessary paperwork sent to our farm including other forms of paper packaging that will be recycled in our new shredding machine.
We are doing our best to not include coloured paper in our shredding and we never use high gloss paper, keeping it as safe as possible for your worms.
And because we have our very own stand-alone Solar power system, we are not using fossil fuel to power our shredder.
It is discouraging to see just how much paper work one small farm can receive. We have opted out of paper statements for many things now such as bank statements, invoices, doing as much as possible on the computer, but even so we still accumulate far more than we are comfortable with.
Every day we try and think about how we can help look after our planet and reduce or reuse our waste.
Sustainable and organic principles
Our farm is run on sustainable and organic principles, we grow our own vegetables and have a great mixed orchard for producing our own fruit.
Included in our family tribe, are our free-range hens which provide us with the best tasting golden yolked eggs.
Do you know what the three best environmentally safe packaging is made from?
1. Paper:
Re cycled shredded paper – Great for re using as packaging again or use it in your garden compost.
2. Popcorn:
Popcorn is totally biodegradable, and you can put the popcorn into your compost bin and it will degrade and become compost for your garden the next year.
However you cannot send it interstate, or overseas for border protection and customs reasons, therefore if using it, only use it if you are posting a package within your own state.
3. Bamboo:
Bamboo grows very fast and has strong fibres it is the best green product for packaging. It can be recycled to be made into all manner of products now days without the use of toxins to do so, therefore making it safe to just throw away after it has been used.
However you cannot send raw bamboo interstate, or overseas for border protection and customs reasons, therefore if using it, only use it if you are posting a package within your own state.
Please use our packaging material in your compost, garden, worm farm or just recycle it.
